There are seventeen Trefoil Guilds throughout Cornwall with a membership of over two hundred. The aims of Trefoil Guiding are to keep alive the spirit of the Guide Promise and Law and to offer practical help to Girlguiding UK. The latter aim is achieved by helping with events, providing Starter Packs for new units, running depots, badge testing and offering emergency help at meetings.
However, as well as service to others, we have a great deal to offer to our members. Each Guild is different and devises its own programme of activities each year. We have speakers on a multitude of fascinating topics, visit places of interest, see shows and eat a lot!
On a County basis during the past Girlguiding Centenary year, we have joined in with many of the Girlguiding Cornwall events including attending the Centenary Thinking Day service at Truro Cathedral; visiting the Centenary camp at Stithians; enjoying an afternoon of entertainment plus tea at Wheal Martyn and also going to Crealy for the 'Promise Party'.
We have also taken part in the Adventure 100 Challenge which was great fun, had a fun afternoon at Condurro (the County camp site) and taken part in various Division and District events. In October we held our annual Fellowship Day service in Biscovey Church followed by lunch at Charlestown.
We also have a Lones Guild that helps members, who are unable to attend meetings, to keep in touch with what is going on.

The finale to the Centenary year was a five day coach trip , early in December to Bruges, Valkenburg & Aachen for an opportunity to go Christmas shopping in the Markets. There were various pickup points throughout Cornwall and the Channel crossing was via the Eurotunnel. It was a wonderful trip thoroughly enjoyed by those who went.
We can also challenge ourselves to do something different by taking part in the Dark Horse Venture (a sort of D of E award for the over fifties) and a lot of our members have been awarded with certificates for their achievements.
There are opportunities to link up with other members at the Region and National AGMs and, in May 2011, the South West Region Trefoil AGM is to be held on the Isle of Wight and in June the National Annual General Meeting is to be held at Southend. We also hold our own AGM which will be in April 2011- so do find out more and come along and join us.
