While the award is similar to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, the syllabus (which can be found on the Senior Section cd) is focussed on developing your role within Guiding, and opening new opportunities for you within the organisation. If you are doing your Gold D of E already, it’s worth having a look at the QG syllabus, as with a few bits of careful planning you can work through both awards at the same time. Already finished your Gold D of E? Don’t despair – set yourself a new range of challenges and get your QG as well.
Don’t be put off by the thought that you’ll have to do a D of E style hiking expedition — it is an option, but it’s not the only option. Plenty of people choose to visit a city instead. Monopoly board challenges in London, history themed trips in York, you name it, we can work it into your exploration section. (You can also do explorations for your D of E, so bear that in mind before you dismiss the idea of doing it).
