Visit to the Fire Station

With a fire engine

On the morning at the end of April some members of 11th Truro Brownies and Guides and their Leaders visited Truro Fire Station. We were given a tour and lots of Fire Safety advice. It was an enjoyable morning. It was timed nicely as the Fire Crew had a call out just as we were leaving the station.

Silver and Sparkling

On Saturday 24th March, eighty excited Rainbows from Carrick North Division gathered at Truro Methodist Church to celebrate the 25th Birthday of the Rainbow Guide section at ‘Silver and Sparkling’.

As they arrived, the girls named and decorated their coloured party bags, which divided them into four groups. After an official welcome by our new Division Commissioner, Jane Padbury, we all sang Happy Birthday as three Rainbows (with birthdays that weekend) cut our lovely birthday cake. Then Rainbows decorated star biscuits with pink icing, edible glitter, and silver decorations.

Cutting the cake

Each group went off to the first of their four activities, which all had a sparkling ‘s’ theme – sand art decorations, suncatcher boxes, scratch art keyrings, and sparkling bead bracelets. Hopefully, they will keep these super mementos of this special event to show their own children when they join Rainbows! There was also time at each base for playing Rainbow games and solving puzzles, which added to the variety of this exciting afternoon.

Two hours later, we all joined together again for our delicious party tea, which was served in silver party boxes. Everyone was also given a piece of birthday cake to take home and the Rainbows were all presented with a pretty embroidered Silver and Sparkling badge.

Finally, we had fun as a large group with campfire singing, finishing with Rainbows Silver Jubilee Song. Judging by the many happy smiling faces, Rainbows and Leaders all had a wonderful time at our enjoyable Carrick North Rainbows 25th Birthday celebrations!

All of us!
