Liz Burnley, the Chief Guide of Girlguiding UK, recently visited the Isles of Scilly. She was met by Fiona Robson (Island District Commissioner) and Mary Eddy (County Commissioner). The huge Trefoil sign was made by local Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. |

Gill Slocombe the Chief Commissioner for South West England also made the trip over to join in the Centenary celebration event which was held at the Town Hall on the Saturday evening and over 60 girls, parents, Leaders and supporters attended. There were a number of presentations, then the Guides entertained with a ‘rap’. Liz Burnley said how great it was to see Guiding flourishing so well on the Isles of Scilly and thanked the Leaders for all they did. Guiding memorabilia was on show and some of the girls found photos of their mums and aunts when they were Brownies and Guides! Afterwards Liz Burnley said ‘I really enjoyed my stay and it was great to be able to link with local guiding and understand more about their challenges and what they achieve too!’ |
