Vicky becomes Queen's Guide

April 05, 2011 at 8:04 PM

On the 5th April 2011 I had the honour of travelling to London with my husband Iain for my Queen’s Guide presentation at Westminster Palace. I woke up before my alarm that morning and I was ready and on the train by 8.30am! We just had time for lunch before a change of shoes and a dash across to Westminster Palace.

After having a rather unflattering picture taken for our ID badges we were inside Westminster Palace!

The event took place in the River room which overlooked the River Thames. After teas and coffees we had our presentations. Our Chief Guide Liz Burnley gave a short speech and we were then called one by one to be presented our brooches by Baroness Wilcox who is the Vice President of Girlguiding UK as well as being the spokesperson for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. There were 30 of us for the afternoon presentation from all around the UK.

After the presentations we had many photos taken. While the photos were being taken delicious savoury and sweet canapés were passed around, which really were scrumptious.

Before we left we were presented with a small gift from the Chief Guide. We then made our way back to Cornwall, finally arriving home around 10pm.
