Our Cornish members joined hundreds of others from all over the country for a service of celebration and thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. It was a joint event with the Scout Association and many of those there held long service or other special awards.
The focus of the service was on the opportunities and experience offered through Scouting and Guiding for all young people thanks to the dedication of their Leaders. Interviews with some of the young people in both movements were a feature of the service, highlighting what can be achieved. An address was given by Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin, who had been in the Guiding movement herself in her native Jamaica. She emphasised the relevance of Guiding and Scouting in today's world. All those who attended were inspired by the service and uplifted by the magnificent surroundings of the Abbey.
