This year's competition at Condurro to cook an Oriental themed meal on an open fire was enjoyed by all who took part and produced some extremely varied meals.
This year with most points going towards taste and presentation the girls went to town with presentation and had trays laid with Chinese bowls and chopsticks and beautiful fresh Camelia flowers to enhance the food. Well done.
The judges tasted and admired some interesting dishes. There were stir frys and rice dishes of various flavours, soups of various colours ,rice paper rolls to dip into chilly sauce, braised fish with spring onions and ginger as well as the inevitable Banana bliss, not quite oriental but who can resist a chocolatey banana??
The girls from the Isles of Scilly produced an Orange and chocolate pudding that was cooked in the scooped out Oranges and although not considered very Oriental gained points for taste, presentation and the fact that it was cooked in an oven made from a large tin!
At the end of a lovely sunny day certificates and badges were presented to all by Chris Davey our County Commissioner and Chinese bowls and spoons were awarded to the Isles of Scilly team who were the winners.
