Brownies from the 1st Camborne Pack are celebrating after being presented with their Bronze Award certificates from the Children’s University. The children have taken part in thirty hours of learning activities with their Brownie Pack who are part of the Children’s University, a national project which recognises the achievements of young people who take part in high quality out of hours learning activities. The certificates were presented by Lisa Neville, the Children’s University Manager in Cornwall.
1st Camborne Brownies joined the Children’s University in September 2011. The Children’s University scheme is a great way to celebrate achievements at Brownies. We have one Brownie who has recently reached 65 hours and will be attending the next graduation at Tremough to collect her Children’s University Silver Award. Some of our girls have also found other groups which are validated with Children’s University and gain extra stickers which they are pleased about. The scheme is having a positive impact. We now have complete membership of the scheme with every girl owning a passport and keen to collect their stickers which has improved regular attendance. It’s great to see the Brownies so keen to come each week and the regular attendance means they get the full benefit of the activities we run over several weeks.
The Brownies added “Children’s University is cool! We like collecting stickers and getting certificates. It encourages us to come to Brownies”
